U TURN IN THE SKY
Many a times flying was enjoyable, but still small fears emanates here and there in our mind whenever small air pockets or jet streams touch our aircraft. It was a very similar feeling ,till I hear heavy bang and a knee jerk when I was travelling yesterday. Airhostess who were serving cool drinks got stunned ,as the belt sign on ,they rushed to the end to bind themselves. From my ear pain I could understand flight is getting down to lower alttitude.Infact initially it was a free float, slowly pilot started maneuvering it. This few minutes nobody had a clue, what’s happening. Normally when you travel down south in the evening there will be a bright corridor at your right and full dark column to your left, this has got changed in short time ,I understood that we were started flying towards north. After 10 minutes of doldrums ,came the announcement of captain, that because of technical snag we are heading back to Mumbai, and it seems full emergency was declared by then. And he said we will take 20 minutes to land. This 20 minutes was looking so much larger than 20 minutes of a boring class, may be for someone would have been more than 20 minutes of wait for a lover. As I was sitting in the last but 3 rd row I could see all ,I can see the tight faces ,vacuous smiles around me and like me. I should say that two minutes of down really free zed my legs. After the announcement I just prayed for a minute. We know every minute of life is nothing but absence of a every minute of death, all the time we are incapable of preventing anything including death, still I could not able to stop tide of feelings splashing our mind about our karma,deeds good or bad etc .Just half an hour before I was worrying about my mentos which I forgot to carry, that was looking silly now. By the time airhostess came back I could see tip of fear afloat over their compulsive commercial smile but this time definitely for their values .i was trying to read through obama “historic”health plan, my eyes were moving but not my mind, it was looking absolutely meaningless. It reminded me of a old saying ‘hope of tomorrow adds salt to today life and makes it tastier. One very old man , at least 80 years old ,sitting in next seat ,starring continuously downwards, I could not able to gauge his feelings, whether he is feeling fine with all even if he dies, nor something he want to do so fearing like all of us . First relief came when we could see the land AGAIN, After this 2000 minutes of tunnel we could see the ray of hope.our airport was at full alert to receive us with red fire engines and their alarming sounds. Not every time when the tyre treads on earth, happiness will touch our souls ,but this time I should say with strong yes.All just ended well when we came to halt, All passengers clapped loudly we would have normally done only when the comparer tells with a style. Airlines staff rushed to the emergency exit ,but I think because of comfort they did not open it, then they got back to work ,started serving food. A small girl came and requested airhostess for something with smile ,I understood life starts again. Indeed i wish to gaze through state of my mind ,to understand and appreciate how precious this life is for me and others around me ,how to reorient myself to fulfill it better, I think it may take some more days but I hope this U- TURN atleast will make some turn in our lifestyle unlike mayana vairagyam(promise at crematorium) .i just wish to share with you all because certain things are better to read ….
